Riding in Style on a Budget: Equestrian Fashion Finds at TJMaxx
Being a young trainer, as well as teaching riders of all age and level, the most popular question I get is “where can I get myself/my child riding clothes?”. There are so many equestrian clothing brands, but for those who know, they do have a pretty price tag. If you’re looking for a more affordable outlet while staying in style, this blog is for you!
Every rider has said “ohhh!” to a piece of clothing and then said “ugh” after looking at the price tag. If you’re anything like me, buying riding clothes is one of your favorite things to do. However, for many of us, the reality of equestrian fashion can be a financial hurdle. From specialized riding breeches to tailored show jackets, the costs quickly add up. But don’t worry, because there are ways to look good in the saddle without breaking the bank. That's how I discovered a hidden gem for equestrians – TJMaxx.
Lots of riders, as well as myself, are familiar with the popularity of the brands Tailored Sportsman and Lululemon. With a slim fit and diverse color range, both shirts are the go to pieces for riders. If you’re looking for shirts just like those brands, TJMaxx has a wide selection to choose from. The sand athletic shirt pictured above was the same quality and fit as the Lululemon t-shirts! The long sleeve Adidas baselayers were also sweat slicking and airy feeling, just like the Tailored sportsman shirts. Both of those pieces came in so many different colors that I had a hard time choosing, even just for the photos!!
My personal favorite find on this specific trip, was the slim fit puffer vest/jacket. I love wearing athletic wear jackets in all seasons, especially at shows. It’s always a form fitting and clean look, so this was a great find. Not only was the puffer vest a good find, but so were the athletic wear jackets just like the name brand ones. The popular athletic wear jacket is usually the Lululemon zip up and its on average above $100. If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, TJMaxx is where to find it. There were so many colors to choose from, especially if you’re someone who likes to match your outfit colors.
And let's not forget about accessories! Riders, trainers, and parents alike love to have their essentials on hand, but riding breeches don’t exactly have lots of pocket space. If you’re a fanny pack enthusiast, this is the place for you. With so many colors and size options, you can carry around your essentials under saddle or just walking around. Pictured above are just a few of the types I found! TJMaxx also offers a variety of wide brim hats perfect for keeping the sun away during those long summer days. Plus, they have a selection of sport undergarments to ensure you stay comfortable in the saddle all day long.
Being an equestrian is undoubtedly a costly endeavor, but it doesn't have to drain your bank account! I love my name brand items, but it’s nice to have more affordable options as well. By shopping smart and taking advantage of budget-friendly options, you can enjoy the sport you love without sacrificing style or finances. After all, everyone should look and feel good in the saddle!
